Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (DDA) - attitudes are changing

This Act places a legal duty on both employers and providers of goods, facilities and services not to discriminate against people on the grounds of disability.

If you are an employer or service provider you need to take the requirements of this Act seriously for at least two reasons:

  • Disabled people make up 10% of the population and
  • They represent a significant market sector.

The rights of access given by this Act are increasingly being tested in the courts resulting in adverse negative publicity and compensation awards.
